How To Make Our Instant Pot Beef Gyros:

To begin this family favorite recipe, pour the beef broth into the bottom of the Instant Pot.

Then, place the beef roast into the Instant Pot as well, and top it with the sliced onions.

Instant Pot Beef Gyros Recipe (4)

In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, minced garlic, oregano, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.

Once that is all mixed together, pour it over top of the beef roast.

Instant Pot Beef Gyros Recipe (5)

Now, just place the lid on the Instant Pot and press the MANUAL or PRESSURE COOK button, and set the timer for 60 minutes or 20 minutes per pound of roast.

When the timer is done, allow the Instant Pot to naturally release the pressure for at least 10 minutes, but 20 minutes is preferred.

Let the rest of the pressure out by turning the valve to the VENTING position and remove the lid from the Instant Pot.

Instant Pot Beef Gyros Recipe (6)

Remove the beef from the Instant Pot to a cutting board and slice or shred the beef and serve it on pitas with cucumbers, tomatoes, and your homemade tzatziki sauce.

How To Make Our Homemade Tzatziki Sauce:

Take the cucumber and shred or grate it.

Once the cucumber is shredded, use a piece of paper towel to blot it and remove as much moisture as possible.

Then, mix together the yogurt, shredded cucumber, garlic, vinegar, and lemon juice.

After those ingredients have all been mixed together, add in the dill, salt, and pepper to your preferred tastes.

Store it in the fridge for a least 30 minutes before serving it to allow the flavors to develop.

How to turn this into a freezer meal:

  • Place roast, beef broth, and onion, into a gallon-sized freezer bag.
  • In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, garlic, oregano, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour olive oil mixture over the roast. Place freezer bag into freezer and it will last up to 90 days.
  • When ready to use, dump ingredients from bag into Instant Pot and add 1/2 cup of beef broth or water in with the frozen food.
  • Place the lid on top, move the valve to SEALING, and press the MANUAL button. Set timer for 90 minutes (or 30 minutes per pound of your roast).
  • Do a NATURAL RELEASE when the timer is done – I even like to let it sit in the Instant Pot for a few hours so that it falls apart so easily. Follow the rest of the instructions as written.

This recipe was so delicious and my husband and I both loved it (we couldn’t convince our 2.5 year old to try it though!)! Do you think this would work as a freezer meal?

  3. Lori says:

Can I use a crock pot instead?

  4. Michelle says:

Does this recipe use a frozen roast or will I need to thaw it first?

  5. Momma Cyd says:

Our roast was thawed, but you can use a frozen roast. You will want to add about 5-10 minutes to your cooking time for a frozen roast.

  6. Momma Cyd says:

Yes, the cooking time will of course be much longer.

  7. Melissa says:

This was DELISH! The whole family loved it. Such a flavorful recipe. Thanks!

I made this recipe tonight for dinner and it was a win even with my 8 year old. I used the ingredients exactly but cooked on low for 8 hours in my crock pot. Delicious!

Oh my lordie, y'all! I made this! I have been following the Sisters for almost a decade and didn't think any of their recipes could defeat my favorite recipe of theirs... Wangers Chicken Strips. Several came close, but the strips are Simple Perfection! This just knocked it off its pedestal. I used my instant pot. I served it more as a flatbread (Pita bread) topped with store bought tzik. sauce, feta cheese, tomato, kalamata olives and onion. The juices are a must to include. The only thing I wish I would have done was to let it sit for the two hours that was recommended in Camille's video.

  12. TM says:

Tried gir the first time tonight. Very good. Better with the beef shredded. Also next time I’d cut the sauce in half.
